Teardown services
An engine that has reached the end of its service life and is to be retired still remains a valuable asset. Its constituent parts can be utilized in a manner that is highly attractive for the customer from an economic point of view. For instance it makes sense for the customer to recycle various high-value materials such as tungsten, titanium, nickel and aluminum as well as to repair and re-use salvageable components.
High-quality repairs instead of expensive new parts
MTU Maintenance has specialized in recovering high-value replacement parts from retired engines, for example high-pressure compressor and turbine airfoils. Once repaired by MTU, these parts are installed in engines which would have otherwise required expensive new part replacements. Thanks to innovative repair processes for engine parts and components, which have been developed and are continuously being optimized by MTU, a broad range of engine parts can be refurbished. The reliability and quality of such refurbished parts matches that of new parts. MTU Repair Services carries out the entire range of services on behalf of its customers: from the teardown of a retired engine to the repair of the parts to the most exacting quality standards. Included in the service chain is the disassembly of modules into their components which are then cleaned and inspected to segregate scrap parts from serviceable ones.
