CF6
MTU has been a risk-and-revenue sharing partner in this engine program of General Electric since 1972 when the company produced the first parts for the CF6-50. In the meantime, MTU supplies parts for the entire CF6 family (CF6-6, CF6-80A, CF6-80C and -80E). The CF6 is a two-shaft turbofan which powers aimed at the medium-to-long-haul large Airbus and Boeing aircraft.
MTU's manufacturing role in the engine is the high-pressure turbine and compressor. Having been manufactured for over 40 years, this engine figures more and more importantly in MTU's repair and spare parts business.
