Ultrasonic shot peening

In conventional shot peening, the kinetic energy of the shot is transferred to a component by means of compressed air. In ultrasonic shot peening, in contrast, the same effect is achieved by means of high-frequency ultrasonic waves. In the process, the shot is set into a random whirling motion inside a component-specific peening chamber to act on the component. The result of ultrasonic shot peening action essentially depends on the arrangement of the sonotrode relative to the component.
